Users who own the device are urged by Samsung to power them down and return it immediately regardless of purchase date and/or whether it is a replacement unit and return to their carriers or place of purchase, Many carriers are offering trade ins for other devices. The phone experienced a great launch and much praise from many reviewers but the news of devices catching fire surfaced shortly after and it all went downhill from there. Many reports suggest that the desire to release before the iPhone is what caused the production process to be put on tighter deadlines resulting in what turned out to be a catastrophic disaster for the Korean company. It has costed an estimated $17 billion and stocks have plummeted by 8% in the past 24 hours.
